10 Surefire Tips to help you capture better images of your children

Do you love taking pictures of your children? Often wish that can give you better images of them? Whether you use a point and camera or a DSLR, MCP actions, creator of Photoshop actions and Lightroom Presets shooting is here to give you better pictures of your kids and the big kids to help.

Get a little closer. One of the biggest differences that you can is to get closer to the subject in your photo. Sometimes we are caught up with getting the beautiful landscape behind them and our children get lost in the image.Look for different angles. A way to more variety in your photos is looking for different angles instead of taking them always straight.Try to make your kids. So crazy, make funny faces, jumping around, singing silly songs. They will be more likely to give you more natural expressions and she will have fun.Try distracting your kids. It can be very difficult to get young children stay still for a picture to get. Try put something like reindeer antlers or something with your head on the top of your camera as a fuzzy sticker. You get their attention and they look very likely right on your camera.Natural is OK. We all have this understanding that we want the perfect portrait of our children. Don’t forget to check out the moments every day. The blank stares into space, the moody, surly moments, the quiet moments, these are all reminders that you want will look back on, not just the smiling picture perfect momentsKnow when to stop. Golden hour! The best time of day to take pictures outside is an hour after sunrise or one hour before sunset. The light is soft and pretty during those hours and shadows are not so hard. The next time you head to the beach, take your kids out for a nice walk one hour before sunset and bring your camera!Cloudy days are the best! When we have a cloudy day I run and get my camera and head outside with the kids. The clouds make a diffuser on the Sun and it softens the light and minimizes shadows. My favorite outdoor photos are taken on cloudy days.Look for open shade. A great place is a veranda, gazebo or under a tree. This will help your children from squinting.Back light. If you take pictures in bright sun open be sure that the sun behind your child rather than putting the sun behind you. This will create a beautiful halo of light behind your child and she will also be less likely to squint!

Don’t forget to have fun! I love my children youth with pictures whether it goes with my DSLR or documenting my iPhone. Some of my favorite images from my children are not the prescribed holiday cards images but rather the spontaneous, in the moment images that capture what they do and how they are feeling!
